True East Charters is a pursuit of true passion.

Jessica Cohen, a luxury real estate broker in Manhattan, created True East Charters to fill the void for a skippered Hamptons boat charter service. While Jessica found boats to charter privately throughout vacation destinations around the world, she was surprised that she struggled to locate boat charters when she wanted to explore the waters of the Hamptons or spend a day at sea with family and friends.

On July 4th weekend of 2012, Jessica purchased a new 23-foot Scout boat, which came with boating lessons, to finally indulge her curiosity to discover the natural beauty of the East End. Her goal was to explore the waters of the Hamptons and learn more about the local area. She loved the experience so much that she was compelled to share it with her friends, colleagues and loved ones. And, the reaction of everyone she has taken on her boat was always the same: pure delight and joy.

After logging 124 hours on her Scout, hosting her friends on the boat, and learning the waters, Jessica still craved more knowledge. That is when she met Captain Michael Tierney, who had attended the Naval Academy and spent the last 15 summers captaining large private yachts for the rich and famous in the Hamptons. She engaged him for a half-day lesson during which they shared their passion for the Hampton waters and frustration with the lack of a luxury day charters for those seeking to experience the beauty of the Hamptons by sea. Jessica partnered with Captain Mike, a bona fide expert of the local waters, and just like that, True East Charters was born.

First, the duo selected and purchased a new Azimut Atlantis 41-foot outboard yacht, distinguished by its beautiful Italian design, meticulous craftsmanship, comfort and performance befitting the discerning tastes of East Enders. They named her “Veritas” or “Truth” as it was the experience of being at sea that had led Jessica and Mike to discover their truth--a true love for the water and the Hamptons.

The name True East signifies finding a new direction, one’s True North, on the East End, delivered in luxury and style one would expect of boating in such coveted destination. Their vision is to add a new dimension to the Hamptons experience: you escape the hassle and traffic of New York to find serenity, sheer beauty and the most spectacular sunsets.

True East Charters departs from Hampton Bays, Southampton, Sag Harbor, or your private dock. Day trips in the Hamptons can accommodate travel to/from Westhampton to Montauk to North Fork, to Block Island and Essex, Connecticut. Private chauffeurs are available to pick up and drop off you off from your residence within a 2-hour drive from our optional pick up dock locations. Additionally, True East Charters offers a pet-friendly boat charter option on the Veritas. So, we welcome you to bring your furry loved for your journey. Other yacht size charters are available for customizing your yachting experience to suit your desired needs.
